چکیده

The degree distance of a graph G is     , 1 1 1 2 n n i j i i j D G d d L        j , where and i d j d are the degrees of vertices , and is the distance between them. The Wiener index is defined as   , i j v v V G  , i j L   , 1 1 1 2 n n i j i j W G L      . An elegant result (Gutman; Klein, Mihalić,, Plavšić and Trinajstić) is known regarding their correlation, that       4 D T W T n n    1 for a tree T with n vertices. In this note, we extend this study for more general graphs that have frequent appearances in the study of these indices. In particular, we develop a formula regarding their correlation, with an error term that is presented with explicit formula as well as sharp bounds for unicyclic graphs and cacti with given parameters.

Edge-decomposition of topological indices

The topological indices, defined as the sum of contributions of all pairs of vertices (among which are the Wiener, Harary, hyper–Wiener indices, degree distance, and many others), are expressed in terms of contributions of edges and pairs of edges.

Peripheral Wiener Index of a Graph

The eccentricity of a vertex $v$ is the maximum distance between $v$ and anyother vertex. A vertex with maximum eccentricity is called a peripheral vertex. The peripheral Wiener index $ PW(G)$ of a graph $G$ is defined as the sum ofthe distances between all pairs of peripheral vertices of $G.$ In this paper, weinitiate the study of the peripheral Wiener index and we investigate its basicproperti...

Wiener Polarity Index of Tensor Product of Graphs

Mathematical chemistry is a branch of theoretical chemistry for discussion and prediction of the molecular structure using mathematical methods without necessarily referring to quantum mechanics. In theoretical chemistry, distance-based molecular structure descriptors are used for modeling physical, pharmacologic, biological and other properties of chemical compounds. The Wiener Polarity index ...

On the distance based indices of H-phenylenic nanotorus

Let G be a connected simple (molecular) graph. The distance d(u, v) between two vertices u and v of G is equal to the length of a shortest path that connects u and v. In this paper we compute some distance based topological indices of H-Phenylenic nanotorus. At first we obtain an exact formula for the Wiener index. As application we calculate the Schultz index and modified Schultz index of this...

Wiener Index of Graphs in Terms of Eccentricities

The Wiener index W(G) of a connected graph G is defined as the sum of the distances between all unordered pairs of vertices of G. The eccentricity of a vertex v in G is the distance to a vertex farthest from v. In this paper we obtain the Wiener index of a graph in terms of eccentricities. Further we extend these results to the self-centered graphs.

The Generalized Wiener Polarity Index of some Graph Operations

Let G be a simple connected graph. The generalized polarity Wiener index of G is defined as the number of unordered pairs of vertices of G whose distance is k. Some formulas are obtained for computing the generalized polarity Wiener index of the Cartesian product and the tensor product of graphs in this article.
